“A New Creature”

Romans 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. 19 For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. 20 Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. 21 I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. 22 For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord! NKJV

Have you ever had a fight with yourself? Have you ever felt like you were schizophrenic and wondered “who is that other person looking back at me in the mirror?” So have I, and so did Paul! He finally came to the place that he realized that the war wasn’t about him at all, but it was his sin nature at war with his “new creature.” The problem is that when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, old things are put away but it takes a while for ALL things to become new. Honestly, “things” can become new more quickly than “we” become new!

The truth is that The Bible says we are immediately a new creature in Christ Jesus, but it’s hard to learn to walk in our “NEW US!” May I help you dear friend? We must RENEW OUR MINDS! We must spend some time in the Word of God training our minds to accept what our spirit has received. The more we learn what God’s thoughts are, the easier it becomes for our thoughts to become His thoughts. Paul said, “I thank God that though Jesus Christ, the war is over!
