“The Spirit of the Lord is Upon You”
Isaiah 61:2- The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called the trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He might be glorified (NKJV).
May I tell you my friend the Spirit of the Lord God is upon you. The thing that caught my attention most is not the binding up of the brokenhearted, or the freedom promised to the captives, not even the beauty for ashes or the oil joy for mourning. Yes, I’m grateful for the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness but what I love the most is it we are the trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord. According to the Scripture and Isaiah, I am not commissioned to plant myself. But I am promised that God will plant me.
We so often try to plant ourselves, to try to make ourselves grow and produce fruit but the real beauty is that He does the planting and He does the producing of the fruit.
